Round 6: Battle of the South

Beer Nerds and Neer Berds, the Battle of the South has been fought, and what a fight it was. The beers of the night certainly weren’t holding back the punches, and neither were the brewers. Without trying to sound too much like a police report, the incident in question, while being a beer fuelled bloody battle to the finish, produced not only a glorious victor, but also a valiant opponent. (Wombat, just tell us about the beers, you idiot).

Fair enough. Our Champion of the night was Tim from Hopdog Beer Works’ Horns Up Rye IPA with an insane amount of US Citra hops give this IPA an aggressive aroma of citrus, grapefruit, resin, pine and mango. In an incredibly close call, the Horns Up just had the edge on the other crowd favorite, Illawarra Brewing’s Hefeweisen, an awesome wheat beer with a fruity aroma and refreshing finish, with summer coming, this was the beer to beat.

A big beery thank you to the boys from the South, Tim from Hopdog and David, Shaun and Ashur from Illawarra Brewing. They brought the pain rain in a big way, Craft Beer Fight Club style.
